Cabinet members have to be drawn from those members who are elected as Councillors. Currently, four parties are represented on the Council and I see no reason why all the skills and experience in those parties shouldn’t be put to good use. Links: |

What happens if all the talent is in one Party? And then what about non-executive functions and the harnessing all the talents for the invaluable scrutiny functions of the Council. Maybe ignorance of the purpose of O&S or the scrutiny commissions doesn’t inform this blog? I highly recommend attending the business of the Council.

Having met the members of all the parties I don’t think that is the case. Party battles on entrenched positions tend to obscure common-sense.
There are going to be some severe economic pressures on Hackney over the next few years and I don’t think all the answers are going to be in one place. Independent scrutiny is determined by the Council, not the Mayor.
